GURU, FORMER MEMBER OF THE LEGENDARY GROUP GANG STARR, DIES AT 43

The hip hop world has been dealt another major blow with the passing of Keith Elam aka Guru. On Feb. 28th, Guru suffered a heart attack and following surgery days later fell into a coma. He awoke from the coma but died last night after a long battle with cancer.
Guru was born in Boston and was the former member of the legendary hip hop group Gang Starr, which released such classic albums as Step In The Arena, Hard To Earn, & Daily operation. In 1993, he released his first solo album, Jazzmatazz, Vol. 1. The album featured collaborations with legendary artists Donald Byrd, N’Dea Davenport and Roy Ayers. The name Guru stands for “Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal”.

Even though Guru resided in Boston & DJ Premier hailed from Texas, they have deep roots in the New York hip hop culture, and along with such producers as Pete Rock, Large Professor and Diamond D, they are known for creating that “New York” hip hop sound.

I AM GLAD I GREW UP IN THE ERA OF GURU & GANG STARR, THEIR MUSICAL INFLUENCE WILL ALWAYS LIVE ON THROUGH ME AND COUNTLESS OTHER FANS OF REAL HIP HOP MUSIC. SO TONIGHT’S INTERNET BROADCAST OF REELTALKBLOGRADIO WILL BE DEDICATED TO GURU. I WILL BE SPINNING SOME OF HIS CLASSIC JOINTS (GANG STARR & SOLO) & I WILL ALSO TALK TO MEMBERS OF THE HIP HOP & RADIO COMMUNITY AS WE PAY RESPECT TO A PIONEER OF REAL HIP HOP. HE MAY BE GONE, BUT HIS MUSICAL LEGACY WILL FOREVER LIVE ON.

 REST IN PEACE, GURU.

Does Jeezy diss Biggie in Vibe Magazine?

In the upcoming Vibe issue, Young Jeezy talks about Tupac & Biggie’s legacy, which is sure to create some controversy:
On 2pac & Biggie
“Pac and Big gone…They no more. Only thing you can hear is they voice, my nigga, and you know what they voice telling me? You gotta keep it moving, man. Fuck the dumb shit…I’m four albums in. How many albums Big have, two? He ain’t make it that far. So I’m already ahead of the game.”
On Being The Top Dog In The Game
“I feel like the last Mohican dawg…I feel like the last man standing. I done seen it, I done done it. I done smelt it…I know what I am. But I know what I’m not about to become. I gotta stand for something, man. Who better?”
So is he speaking the truth? Or is he smoking crack with that statement?

JAYZ & DRE SPOTTED IN STUDIO, COURTESY OF REELTALKBLOG.COM

Does this mean Jayz will be on the album Detox? Will it matter because alot of people are complaining saying this album Detox  is never gonna come out. While im not really happy about the wait either, these are 2 artists that brought alot to this hip hop culture, and still deserve respect for still being relevant, especially in the age of corny tight jean simpleton rap. So i won’t spend time spewing hate and talkin shit like all of these internet thug fags are doing right now. But give your opinion on the Detox album, will you purchase it when or if it comes out, or could you care less at this point?

Gucci Mane & Young Jeezy’s crews square off, shots fired

Source :The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Shots were fired, though no one was hit, during an altercation between groups affiliated with local rappers Gucci Mane and Young Jeezy that closed Walter’s Clothing in downtown Atlanta for about 30 minutes. The fight started around 4 p.m. Thursday…..
when Mane’s group walked into the store — popular with celebrities — and spotted Jeezy’s associates, said witness Patrick Morrison. “There was a physical altercation inside the location between several men,” Atlanta police spokesman James Polite confirmed to the AJC. One of the men produced a weapon “and as a result a private armed security guard of a local entertainer discharged his weapon.” Polite said the security guard, employed by local rapper Waka Flocka Flame, has been detained. The fighting was intense, witnesses said. “They just started going at it,” said Morrison, a Walter’s employee. Waka Flocka Flame, aka Juaqin Malphurs, is a member of Gucci Mane’s 1017 Brick Squad. His pseudonym alludes to the sound of cocking a semi-automatic pistol. “Whoever he is he’s got a big swollen eye now,” Morrison said. In January, Malphurs was shot in the arm while washing his car on Old National Highway. Police said he was approached at the Bubble Bath car wash by armed men demanding his jewelry. Meanwhile, Gucci Mane, aka Radric Davis, is serving time at the Fulton County jail for a probation violation. He is set to be released in May. His dispute with Young Jeezy, aka Jay Jenkins, dates back to 2005, according to Allhiphop.com. Their feud supposedly ended last December during an appearance on DJ Drama’s Gangsta Grillz show on Hot 107.9 DJ Drama, aka Tyree Cinque Simmons, who recorded several mixtapes with Young Jeezy, became involved in the feud when he decided to record with Gucci Mane in 2008.
